Following the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the UK Government has announced the brand new KickStart programme as part of their intentions to support both emloyers and workers throughout such unprecedented times.
The scheme means that the UK Government will cover employers for 100% of the costs (including National Minimum Wage) for up to 25 hours work per week, across a maximum of six months. What's more, any employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions are covered too!
If that's not enough, there is a £1,500 placement grant available per person recruited, to help cover setup costs, support and training.
However, as standard, employers are only allowed to apply directly to the Government for this funding if they are in a position to offer at least 30 job placements. This means that many small businesses won't be in a position to qualify for the scheme as they simply don't have the infrastructure to take 30 new members of staff.
HYA Training is here to help all small businesses access the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, so that they too can create KickStart job placements for 16 to 24 year olds. All candidates are young people deemed at risk of long-term unemployment due to the effects of Coronavirus.
HYA Training has opted to particiapte in the KickStart scheme as a representative for smaller employers, acting an intermediary for businesses that want to participate but are not in a position to recruit 30 or more candidates.
Our role is pool all of our interested employers into one 'KickStart Group', in order to reach a total of at least 30 placement opportunities (therefore meeting the Government’s threshold for funding).
Therefore, all you need to do is apply for the scheme through us and we will handle the application process with the Government, as well as sourcing your placement candidate.
No, not a penny!
You will receive 100% of the funding to cover wages and implementation (plus the initial KickStart grant!). Our administration costs are instead covered by the UK Government.
On top fo that, any KickStart candidates that you chose to employ follwing completion of their placement would be eligible for further FREE training via our apprenticeship and/or adult education courses, allowing them to further develop their skills and workplace experience.
